I have opened TAC case recently for a number of newer ST systems installed on UC-20 servers loaded with Windows 2008 server - R1
and now also on 1 site running VMware server system with Win2008 Server R1. All sites running V14.2r19442503 or higher level software.
These are all clean new ST stock systems with only the MS patches approved in the Build notes for that particular installed version.
.
I will get a report from customer that ST voice mail to email notifications have stopped working and I when I search
the Application error logs I find an error notice with a time stamp of 2:01 am (this time is on every error reported) and the following error
= Major SMTP failure. Event ID 1023
Quicklook in SW Director = Red Indicator = SMTP send on HQ Server status
1. Stopping and restarting SMTP Virtual Svc from IIS6 or stopping and restarting SMTP service in Windows Service does not clear error in SW Director.
>>>Only work around right now seems to be to reboot whole ST server after-hours - which DOES clear error in SW Dir after reboot.
2. IIS6 logging is NOT enabled by default - so my review of all available ST and Windows logs did not disclose why this svc seems to fail in SW
Director but still shows OK and running in Windows Svcs.
3. I have now enabled the logging in IIS6 and am awaiting another failure so we can try to pull some useful logs.
I'm told that they have not had any other reports of this exact issue - which I am finding hard to believe in that 4-5 of my most recent installs
mostly on UC-20 servers (but 1 on a VMware server) are having this issue.
If you have seen this issue, I would suggest enabling IIS6 Virtual Server logging (check allow logging and use default format) and
open a TAC case so they know how wide spread this issue may be.
Thanks!
If you have seen this issue - please advise us here as well.
Thanks!
